Positions based in Maritimes are available for suitable Electrical Technologist candidates to join an innovative multidisciplinary professional consulting firm.

General Experience:
A commitment to service excellence, 3 to 7 years progressive experience as a practicing Technologist in a professional service firm setting. Experience in participating in or leading design teams, and in cost estimating, scheduling, preparing and delivering presentations. Working understanding of current design practices and standards for constructability, functionality, serviceability, environmental considerations, initial cost and long term operating costs. Expertise in the fundamentals of design and preparation of working drawings and specifications and on-site experience during construction. Must be available for Canadian and international travel.

Technical Skills:
Excellent communication, writing and organizational skills are mandatory. Knowledge and experience in the day-to-day use of computer aided design appliances in a Windows based environment (AutoCAD 2002, 2D and 3D), current microcomputer information processing technologies including the Internet is mandatory. Must be self-motivated and have ability to work with minimal direction in a leadership and support role as part of an interdisciplinary team developing and applying leading edge technologies. An understanding of contract law fundamentals, project management and contract administration practices, office and business management techniques is highly desired.

Specific Requirements:
Experience in the design of electrical sub-stations, power, communication, lighting, safety and security systems, for institutional, industrial, and commercial facilities. Working knowledge of programmable controllers and distributed control systems for efficient production facilities. Experience with the selection of components that ensure optimum capabilities in processing information and system diagnostics and in the start-up of field instrumentation and control systems. Familiarity with electrical rate analysis will also be of benefit. Hands-on knowledge and use of leading electrical engineering or drawing applications software.

Education:
Must hold a Certificate from a recognized Technical College and be eligible for immediate registration as a Certified Engineering Technician in the local association. Preference given to candidates with combinations of additional skills, education, experience and/or multilingual fluency.
